Found Photos

During a recent road-trip, I visited a small thrift store and I stumbled upon a dusty box filled with old 35mm slides. My curiosity piqued, I took a closer look and discovered these vibrant glimpses into the past, taken between the 1950s and 1970s. It felt like I had found a forgotten time capsule, and I knew I had to bring them back to life.

Years ago, slides were the preferred way of preserving and sharing memories, capturing moments that might otherwise fade into oblivion. With the rise of digital photography, it’s easy to forget how cherished these small pieces of film were for families over the decades. I felt a sense of responsibility to share these images and ensure they didn’t gather dust again.

Back at home, I pulled out an old ION Omni Scan, a handy device designed for digitizing slides and negatives. Excited to put it to use, I set up a little scanning station in my office. With each scan, the colors and details of those bygone days was preserved in digital format.

The images transported my imagination to another era. There were cheerful family gatherings, sun-soaked vacations, and candid moments of joy that spoke volumes about the lives captured within those frames. It was a humbling reminder of how memories can connect us, transcending time and generations.

In future posts I’ll share additional images from that dusty old box. If you ever come across old slides, don’t toss them aside, instead breathe new life into them. You never know what stories they might hold!
